“Balancing nutrients is like balancing a checkbook”, says Eric Moore. It is important to first understand the existing soil fertility through soil sampling then getting the running balance through the season with leaf tissue analysis. Eric says that fertilization depends on the depth of the soil profile, but the focus in on where the root mass is. Finally, it is important to balance nutrients when the plants need it and that could vary in the season.
